The browser decodes each source, redraws its pixels at the original dimensions, and asks the canvas encoder for the chosen format. When the selected format cannot retain transparency, the chosen background is painted first; lossless encoding ignores the quality setting.

- Format decoding and export support depends on the current browser; the tool reports an error when the selected encoder is unavailable rather than silently returning another format.
- Only the decoded still image is carried forward. Animation, layers, camera metadata, color profiles, and quality already lost in the source are not recovered.
