In short

What does social image resizer do?

Worked example

A concrete social image resizer example

Input
A 2400 × 1600 landscape photograph.
Settings
Instagram square 1080 × 1080, cover fit, WebP at 86% quality.
Result
A 1080 × 1080 WebP using the centered 1600 × 1600 region of the source, so 400 source pixels are cropped from each horizontal side.
What to expect

How it works

Cover compares source and target ratios, selects the largest centered source rectangle with the target shape, and scales it to fill the canvas. Contain scales the entire source as large as possible without cropping and centers it over the chosen background. The finished canvas is encoded in the selected image format.

Know before using

Limits and edge cases

  • Cover always uses a centered crop; there is no focal-point control, so off-center faces or text may need the image cropper first.
  • The tool exports one preset per run, and platform display crops or recommended dimensions can change; inspect the result in the destination service before publishing.
