In short

What does pdf to image do?

PDF to image renders the pages you select to PNG or JPG at one, two, or three times their natural size. Rendering happens in the page using a bundled PDF.js worker, so the document is never uploaded. A single page downloads directly; several arrive as a ZIP.

What to expect

How it works

The document is parsed by PDF.js, whose worker is loaded from this application's own bundle rather than a third-party CDN. Each selected page is drawn to a canvas at the chosen scale and exported in the chosen format. Pages render one at a time: rendering them all at once would peak memory at the sum of every page instead of the largest single one, which is what fails on phones.

Know before using

Limits and edge cases

  • The output is a picture of the page. Text in the image is no longer selectable or searchable, and it cannot be edited back into a document.
  • The number of pages rendered in one run is capped, because each finished page is held in memory until export.

Common questions

PDF to image FAQ

Is pdf to image free to use?

Yes. PDF to image is free to use.

Does pdf to image keep my work private?

Yes. Your work stays private while you use the tool — nothing you enter is uploaded.

Which scale should I choose?

2x suits most on-screen use and is the default. 1x matches the page's natural size and produces the smallest files; 3x is worth it only for printing or for reading fine detail.

PNG or JPG?

PNG for pages with text, line art, or flat colour, because it stays crisp and has no compression artefacts. JPG for pages dominated by photographs, where it produces a much smaller file.
