Tips that save a second try
An 8-digit HEX like #14B8A680 carries transparency in the last two digits — the alpha survives every conversion.
HSV and OKLCH are output-only: start from HEX, rgb(), or hsl() when pasting a color in.
Copy from the original conversion rather than re-converting a rounded value — repeated round-trips can nudge a channel by one.
Common questions
Is #RRGGBB the same color as rgb()?
Yes. They are two notations for the same red, green, and blue channels — hex writes each channel as two hexadecimal digits, rgb() lists them as numbers from 0 to 255.
What are 4- and 8-digit HEX codes?
The extra digits encode the alpha channel: #RGBA and #RRGGBBAA are shorthand and full forms of a color with transparency, where FF is fully opaque.
